International Volunteer Day
On 5 December, International Volunteer Day, the twelve regional branches of 143.ch – Heart2Heart honour the tireless commitment of their volunteers. More than 700 people across Switzerland dedicate their time to listening in an anonymous, respectful and empathetic way. By giving their time and attention, they make conversations possible that bring relief and comfort every day.
At a time when many people feel under pressure, lonely or without anyone to talk to, it becomes clear how valuable an attentive ear can be. Listening builds trust and connection. It can be the first step toward regaining strength and feeling less alone.
Commitment that makes a difference
Volunteers at 143.ch invest not only their time but also their hearts. Before taking calls or chats, they receive thorough training, ongoing support and regular supervision. They talk to people facing a wide range of challenges, including worry, conflict, exhaustion, loneliness or existential fear.
With more than 195,000 contacts per year, the need for anonymous, non-judgmental conversations remains high. Thanks to the dedication of volunteers, the service is available day and night, 365 days a year, throughout all regions of Switzerland.
A national network, locally rooted
The twelve regional branches of 143.ch together ensure a reliable listening network that is accessible 24/7, anonymous and free of charge. Each region is deeply connected to its community and understands local realities, while national cooperation ensures quality and consistency.
Volunteers are the foundation of this work. They listen when no one else is there and make an essential contribution to the mental wellbeing of society.
